Sufficiency: We have a $F$-automorphism of $F(B)$ ($B$ is a transcendence basis of $E/F$), say $\varphi$, since $E$ is an algebraic closure of $F(B)$, $\varphi$ extends to a $F$-automorphism of $E$.
