For a constant $C$ and small $\varepsilon$, $$(1-\varepsilon)^C\approx 1-C\varepsilon+\frac {C(C-1)}2\varepsilon^2+...$$ Just plug in $$C=-\frac{\kappa-1}\kappa$$
