I am supposed to find a generating function for the sequence with recurrence relation
$a_0 = a_1 = 1$, and for n ≥ 2 $a_n = 3_{n-1} - 2a_{n-2}$
I am unsure how to go about this. Is it supposed to be $a_n = 3a_{n-1} - 2a_{n-2}$ or am I missing something? How would you go about solving this? I have multiple problems where it seems to be an $a$ missing, just like this one.
