I learned tangent line as a concept associated with a circle. I thought to make a tangent line, it might have some specific point which is perpendicular to. as always did with circle did. But in the lesson of calculus, it doesn't seems any another point to associate. To draw tangent lines of some graph, how could we refer the slope of tangent line? Before we calculate?
I mean what makes some line to be a tangent line on the graph. How could be a tangent line with out any other point?
Think about it in this way. You riding a cycle on that particular path defined by the function. So at any time in the path of the bicycle, you are obviously facing in a particular direction.
So that direction is the slope at that point, and so using that particular direction, we can form a line which is tangent to the function at that particular point. Now, the direction can be determined using various calculus concepts such as the limit. There is no point that you need to create a perpendicular to in this case (that is only in geometry while working with circles).

This is exactly how tangent lines are found in calculus, by considering the line between two points and bringing the two points together. You'll see this when you learn about derivatives. Hope this helps :)
